Solar panels, batteries & heat pumps in Falkirk
Falkirk is 25 miles from our base along the M80 and M876, between Glasgow and Edinburgh, and its housing stock is unusually well suited to solar: large estates of 1930s–1970s semi-detached and terraced houses with uncomplicated pitched roofs and plenty of loft space.

What we see on surveys here
Inter-war and post-war semis
Falkirk, Camelon, Larbert and Grangemouth are dominated by semi-detached and terraced houses from the 1930s to 1970s. Simple two-slope roofs, little shading, and lofts with room for a battery and inverter — the easiest installs we do.
Ex-local-authority housing
A large share of the area's homes were council-built. Many have cavity walls and lofts that are quick to insulate, which makes them good candidates for a heat pump as well as solar.
New estates
Polmont, Maddiston, Larbert and Denny have grown with new-build estates since the 2000s. These are well insulated from day one, so a heat pump runs efficiently and a modest solar array covers a large share of demand.
Heating in Falkirk
Almost the whole district is on mains gas. The usual path is solar and battery now, then a heat pump when the gas boiler reaches the end of its life — both can be financed through the Warm Homes Loan.
Planning permission
Falkirk's town centre, Bo'ness and parts of Grangemouth have conservation areas; elsewhere houses install under permitted development. The Antonine Wall World Heritage Site runs through the district but rarely affects domestic roof installs. We confirm the position for your address.

Common Questions
Questions from Falkirk homeowners
How much does solar cost on a typical Falkirk semi?
Most 1930s–1970s semis in the area take a 3.5–4.5 kWp system. Our current solar-and-battery offer starts at £6,999 fully installed for a standard pitched roof; the fixed price is confirmed in writing after a free survey.
Do you cover Grangemouth and Bo'ness?
Yes — the whole Falkirk Council area is on our regular run: Falkirk, Grangemouth, Larbert, Stenhousemuir, Bo'ness, Denny, Bonnybridge, Polmont and Maddiston.
Is the Home Energy Scotland grant available in Falkirk?
Yes — up to £7,500 towards an air source heat pump for owner-occupiers, with no benefits test. Falkirk postcodes are classed as urban or accessible, so the rural uplift does not usually apply.
