Solar panels, batteries & heat pumps in Stirling

Stirling sits half an hour up the M80 from our base, and the Stirlingshire villages beyond it are some of the best heat pump territory in central Scotland: stone houses off the gas grid, where oil and LPG bills are high and the rural grant uplift applies. Our office line is a Stirling 01786 number for a reason.

What we see on surveys here

Victorian stone villas

Kings Park, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane have substantial stone houses with slate roofs and good orientation. Slate takes solar with the right hooks, and the large roofs suit 5 kWp-plus systems.

Post-war and modern estates

Bannockburn, Cornton, Raploch and the newer estates around Dunblane and Stirling's south side have simple roofs and mains gas — solar and battery is the usual first step.

Rural and village homes

Callander, Aberfoyle, Killin, Kippen and the farms between are largely off the gas grid. An air source heat pump replacing oil or LPG is where the numbers work best, especially with the grant uplift.

Heating in Stirling

The city and the larger towns are on mains gas; much of rural Stirlingshire is not. Oil, LPG and electric storage heating are common in the villages, and those homes see the largest savings from a heat pump.

Planning permission

Most of Stirling installs under permitted development. Stirling's town centre, Bridge of Allan and Dunblane have conservation areas where street-facing panels need permission, and Callander, Aberfoyle and Killin fall inside the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park, where the Park Authority handles planning. We prepare applications for both.

Common Questions

Questions from Stirling homeowners

Is my Stirlingshire village eligible for the £9,000 rural uplift?

Many are. The uplift applies to remote rural, island and off-gas accessible rural postcodes — Callander, Aberfoyle, Killin and most farm addresses qualify; Stirling city itself does not. We check your postcode before you commit to anything.

Can you install in the Loch Lomond & The Trossachs National Park?

Yes. Planning in the Park is handled by the National Park Authority rather than Stirling Council; many installs are still permitted development, and we prepare the application where one is needed.

Do you replace oil boilers with heat pumps?

Yes — oil and LPG homes are the strongest case for an air source heat pump. We size the system from a room-by-room heat loss survey and decommission the old tank and boiler safely.
